Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is coming to an end in China, and the previously anticipated global version has been officially canceled. LightSpeed Studios announced that the Chinese edition of the mobile MMORPG will shut down on September 30, 2026, marking a sudden and disappointing conclusion for a title that launched less than 15 months ago.

The game launched in China on June 19, 2025, with hopes of a worldwide release later on. But now, both Tencent and Square Enix have agreed to terminate their licensing agreement, citing shifts in business operations and market conditions. The official statement from the operations team confirms that the decision was made through “amicable negotiation.”

In a heartfelt farewell message, the team acknowledged the community that had formed around “Mobile Eorzea.” They thanked players for their feedback, their mentorship of newcomers, and the shared memories of countless battles. “To have resonated with all of you adventurers on this journey has been the greatest fortune of this world we built together,” the announcement read. However, they also expressed regret for not being able to fully meet player expectations, including those hoping for a global launch.

The shutdown follows a strict timeline. In-game purchases and new user registrations were suspended on July 17, 2026. The servers and official website will go dark at 11:00 AM (UTC+8) on September 30. After that, player accounts, character data, and related information for Chinese mainland users will be deleted in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Law. The forums and customer support will close on October 15.

With only 76 days left until the servers go offline, the team has promised to support players through this final chapter. For those who had been eagerly awaiting the global version, this news marks the end of that dream as well.
