Alex Jones may be on the verge of losing Infowars to The Onion, but he’s not going down without a fight , and a truly bizarre conspiracy. The satirical newspaper is reportedly close to finalizing a deal that would seize control of Jones’ long-running platform, and as part of the transition, they’ve brought on comedian Tim Heidecker as their new creative director. Jones, never one to let facts get in the way of a good rant, has responded by “exposing” Heidecker’s past work , work that has been publicly available on Adult Swim for years and is, by any reasonable standard, obviously satirical.

On Friday, Jones took to X to share what he claimed was a shocking discovery. “The Onion newspaper has been rocked by the discovery that their new creative director, produced pro pedo/child kidnapping, torture and murder programs,” he wrote. He included what he described as an “actual mug shot” of Heidecker. In reality, the image is a fake mugshot taken from a 2017 Adult Swim courtroom series, in which Heidecker’s character stands trial for 20 counts of second-degree murder.

Since Monday’s news that The Onion was nearing a new licensing agreement to take over Infowars, Jones has been posting nonstop about Heidecker’s comedy sketches. In one 30-minute segment, Jones narrates and reacts to bits from Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, including a skit about rentable child clowns. The style is intentionally surreal, loud, and absurd , unmistakably fake to anyone familiar with the show.

Jones, however, seems either unaware or unconcerned. He warned his audience of “EXTREME VIEWER DISCRETION,” claiming Heidecker produced “pro-pedophile / child torture & murder shows” in conjunction with Will Ferrell, whom he accused of participating in “Satanic rituals with spirit cooking high priestess Marina Abramović.” He also claimed to have whistleblowers inside Adult Swim and promised “even more stuff coming in from inside the show” that never aired.

Ever the opportunist, Jones turned the rant into a fundraising pitch. “This is who we’re up against,” he said. “If you don’t word-of-mouth spread the word, if you don’t pray for the broadcast, if you don’t support us financially, you are literally aiding and abetting these people.”

For years, Jones has used Infowars to sell merchandise, diet supplements, and questionable health products while spreading dangerous lies. In 2022, a jury ordered him to pay $1.5 billion to the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, whose deaths he falsely labeled a hoax. He repeated similar claims just this week.

The Onion’s bid to take over Infowars follows a legal process that began in 2024, when a court-appointed trustee and Sandy Hook families selected the satirical outlet’s offer. After a judge initially blocked the deal, The Onion returned with a new licensing agreement to use Infowars’ intellectual property. That deal still requires judicial approval.

Ben Collins, CEO of The Onion, weighed in on Jones’ latest meltdown. “This is not a smart man, and it is very funny to watch this all unfold. That he used a fake mugshot from a fake trial about a fake music festival from a very well-known national TV show and presented it as an ‘actual mugshot’ should tell you the kind of groundbreaking reporting methods this fella has used for years,” Collins said via email. “While we’re very glad this era of InfoWars is almost over, we are appreciating this exceedingly funny crashout from afar as we build out something even better that we hope to kick off next week.”

He added a final punchline: “In the meantime, all true InfoWars fans worried about being exposed to Satan’s influences should visit TheOnion. Info to purchase Demon Guard™, the only patch that provides 24-hour holy protection against all dark entities.”
