Google is expanding the Gemini app with new tools that directly integrate Google Business Profile and Business notebooks, giving business owners more ways to manage their online presence through conversational AI. The updates were unveiled at the company’s Google for Brazil event and are set to begin a global rollout this month, though users in the EEA and UK will not have access at launch.
The Business Profile connection is rolling out gradually, so not every eligible user will see it immediately. Once linked, Gemini can tap into real-world business data, including customer reviews, questions, and performance metrics. Vishnu Sivaji, senior director for the Gemini app, explained that “once connected, Gemini becomes an AI assistant that actually knows your business, having access to your real-world context like customer reviews, customer questions and performance data.”
Google provided three practical examples of what this integration enables. You can ask how your business performed this month, and Gemini will analyze search impressions, direction requests, call data, and customer engagement. If you need help responding to a recent review, the AI can draft a reply that references the customer’s specific feedback. It can also update operating hours, post seasonal updates, or identify gaps in your profile.
The Business notebooks feature gives owners a dedicated space that holds chats, sources, a Business Profile, and a website. Gemini references this material across conversations, so context carries over between sessions. When opened, notebooks can surface alerts such as an unanswered customer question or holiday hours that haven’t been set. The tool may also suggest operational changes like pricing or positioning based on local market conditions.
These updates are part of a broader push for Gemini. The company notes that the features build on the AI capabilities announced in May, when Gemini 3.5 Flash became the default model in AI Mode and agentic features expanded across Search. On the moderation side, Google has been using Gemini to detect suspicious profile edits and fake reviews since last year. This announcement marks a shift from enforcement to management, bringing Gemini into the product’s administrative side.
For business owners, this integration changes how they interact with their Business Profile. Traditionally, managing a profile meant working inside the dashboard for each task. Now, review replies, profile edits, and performance questions can be handled through a chat window. However, Google cautions that AI-drafted responses still represent your business once published, so each one needs a careful read before it goes out.
The rollout begins this month, with the Business Profile connection following in the coming weeks. The announcement did not specify any availability plans for the EEA or UK.
