– Teen Accounts are already limited to topics similar to PG-13 movie content, and users can choose topics to see more or less of via the “Your Algorithm” feature.
– Meta is consolidating parental controls for Instagram, Meta Horizon, Facebook, and Messenger into a single hub in Family Center.
– Parents can now send a single invitation to supervise their teen across all these apps, with more supervision tools like “aggregated time spent” coming soon.

Starting Tuesday, parents will gain deeper insight into what their teens are engaging with on Instagram. Meta is rolling out an update to its Teen Accounts that reveals the general topics their teens interact with, such as “basketball” or “fashion.” The company also plans to soon send alerts when a teen adds a new interest to their algorithm.

This move builds on Meta’s December launch of the Your Algorithm feature, which allows users to choose topics they want to see more or less of on Instagram. In its Tuesday blog post, Meta emphasized that Teen Account users already face restrictions on which topics they can add. Content displayed to these accounts is intended to align with the standards of a PG-13 movie.

Meta also announced it is consolidating parental controls for Instagram, Meta Horizon, Facebook, and Messenger into a single hub within Family Center. This change lets parents send one supervision invitation that applies across all of these apps at once. Looking ahead, Meta says Family Center will receive additional supervision tools in the coming months, including aggregated time spent by teens in Meta’s applications.
