Google’s ‘Gemini Agent’ becomes your 24/7 digital partner

▼ Summary
– Google is reportedly testing “Remy,” a 24/7 personal agent powered by Gemini that can take actions on behalf of users, not just answer questions.
– Strings in the Google app beta suggest a major upgrade to the existing “Gemini Agent” feature, describing it as a “24/7 digital partner.”
– The upgraded Gemini Agent can perform actions like communicating, sharing documents, and making purchases using personal data from chats, connected apps, and location.
– The feature remains experimental, with warnings that it can make mistakes, expose data unintentionally, and should not be used for professional tasks like legal or medical advice.
– Users can manage and delete their activity, browser data, and personal context, and completed or in-progress tasks can be pinned, renamed, and continued later.
With the rollout of Gemini 3 last November, Google quietly introduced Gemini Agent as an experimental tool designed to handle multi-step tasks. Now, fresh reports and newly uncovered code strings suggest this feature is poised for a significant upgrade.
Our APK Insight analysis involved decompiling the latest Google app version uploaded to the Play Store. By examining the underlying code, we can spot hints about future capabilities. It’s important to remember that Google may never release these features, and our interpretations aren’t guaranteed. Still, we attempt to activate nearly finished elements to preview their potential look and feel.
Business Insider recently reported that Google employees are testing a tool internally called “Remy,” described as a 24/7 personal agent for work, school, and daily life, powered by Gemini. Internal documents paint a vivid picture:
> “It elevates the Gemini app into a true assistant that can take actions on your behalf , not just answer questions or generate content.”
> “Deeply integrated across Google, Remy can monitor for things that matter to you, handle complex tasks proactively, and learn your preferences over time.”
This week, Google app version 17.20 entered the beta channel, revealing several new strings tied to Gemini Agent. Although that name already exists for Google AI Ultra subscribers, these strings point to a major overhaul aligned with the Remy concept.
The updated Gemini Agent greets users with, “What can I get done for you today?” Other strings label it as “Your 24/7 digital partner.”
> “It can take actions for you on the web and with your Connected Apps and skills, like communicating with others, sharing documents, and making purchases for you. To do this, it uses info like your chats, info from your Connected Apps, Personal context, Personal Intelligence, Agent files, and location.”
As before, it remains an “experimental feature” with clear warnings: “It can make mistakes and expose data unintentionally. Be clear with your requests, and take care when asking it to do sensitive tasks. Supervise its tasks and actions in your dashboard. Gemini is not designed for tasks requiring professional knowledge, like for legal, medical, or financial actions.”
Personalization comes with transparency: “Gemini Agent learns about you as you use it, including from your interactions and tasks with Gemini, your Personal context, and uploaded files. Manage and delete your activity in Gemini Apps Activity.” Users also retain control: “Gemini saves your browser and cookie data, like your login credentials and browsing history. You can clear this data, turn off Personal Intelligence and Connected Apps, and manage your Personal context in Settings.”
On the interface side, conversations remain the primary interaction method, with a dedicated section likely appearing in the Gemini navigation drawer. Completed, in-progress, input-requiring, and scheduled tasks will each have their own area where you can pin, rename, and resume them later.
