Available through Google Labs, this public beta in the US leverages the Gemini 2.5 Flash model to transform text prompts or pre-made templates into visual collections. The platform provides an open canvas for users to explore design ideas, making it a practical resource for everything from interior decorating to event planning.

Visually, the interface shares similarities with established platforms like FigJam or Adobe’s Firefly Boards. While the concept of a digital moodboard isn’t new, Google’s entry into this space signals a growing focus on design-oriented applications. Users can either upload their own images or generate new ones using descriptive prompts. For example, typing “show me cups, bowls, and plates in Memphis style” will produce a set of matching visuals, while a prompt like “plan an autumn party in my living room” helps conceptualize a complete theme.

A key feature is the ability to edit boards using natural language commands. You can ask the tool to adjust, combine, or refine images based on your instructions. If you’ve already uploaded reference photos, Mixboard can generate new visuals that match their style or content.
