Google has taken a significant step by providing precise usage limits for its Gemini apps, offering marketers and users a clearer picture of what to expect from both free and paid plans. This move replaces previous ambiguous guidelines with specific numbers, helping users plan their activities with more certainty. The Help Center update details daily caps on various functionalities, including prompts, images, Deep Research, video generation, and context windows. Importantly, users will receive in-product notices as they approach these limits.

Until recently, Google’s documentation for Gemini Apps was characterized by vague references to “limited access,” without specifying exact numbers. The updated Help Center page now provides detailed per-tier allowances for features like Gemini 2.5 Pro prompts, image generation, and Deep Research. Users can see how practical caps might fluctuate based on the complexity of prompts, file sizes, and conversation lengths, as well as the potential for changes over time.

Google emphasizes that these usage limits are designed to ensure an optimal experience for everyone. It notes, “we may at times have to cap the number of prompts, conversations, and generated assets you can have within a specific timeframe.”

What Each Tier Offers

For those using the free version, access to Gemini 2.5 Pro is limited to five prompts per day. Users can also generate up to 100 images per day, enjoy 20 audio overviews daily, and conduct five Deep Research reports monthly. However, the overall app limits are still in effect, meaning actual performance depends on factors like prompt complexity and the number of files involved.

The Google AI Pro tier increases these allowances significantly, offering 100 prompts per day on Gemini 2.5 Pro, 1,000 images per day, and 20 Deep Research reports daily. Meanwhile, the Ultra tier provides even more generous limits: 500 prompts per day, 200 Deep Research reports daily, and includes Deep Think capabilities with up to 10 prompts per day at a 192,000-token context window for more complex tasks.

Exploring Context Windows and Advanced Features

Context windows vary by tier, with the free tier offering a 32,000-token context size, while Pro and Ultra expand this to 1 million tokens. This enhancement is particularly useful for extended conversations or processing extensive documents. The Ultra tier’s Deep Think feature operates independently of this 1M context, capped at 192k tokens for its daily prompts.

Video generation is currently in preview, with model-specific limits. Pro users can create up to three videos per day using Veo 3 Fast (preview), while Ultra users can generate up to five videos daily with Veo 3 (preview).
