Apple Music has officially raised its subscription fees across multiple tiers. In the United States, the individual plan now runs $11.99 per month, a one-dollar increase from the previous $10.99. The family plan jumps to $19.99 per month, up from $16.99, while the student plan climbs to $6.99 per month, a dollar more than its former $5.99 rate. Apple attributed the changes to “rising licensing costs,” according to a statement shared with Music Business Worldwide.
The price hikes extend beyond the U. S. Music Business Worldwide reports that costs have also increased in the UK and Europe, and the publication “understands” similar adjustments are rolling out in other regions. Apple did not immediately respond to The Verge‘s request for further comment.
This marks Apple Music’s first price increase since October 2022, when the service raised rates alongside Apple TV Plus and Apple One. The company is also reportedly upping prices for AppleCare Plus subscriptions covering Macs and iPads. Notably, Spotify recently raised its U. S. Premium plan from $11.99 to $12.99 per month, making the competitive landscape more expensive for streaming music subscribers. In an interesting twist, CD sales in the U. S. are reportedly on the rise.
Apple has also adjusted Apple One bundle prices. According to MacMagazine, the Family plan now costs $27.95 per month (up $2), and the Premier plan has risen to $39.95 per month (also up $2). The individual Apple One plan remains unchanged at $19.95 per month.
