Destiny 2 Players Find Overpowered Armor Set Before Shutdown

▼ Summary
– A final Destiny 2 hotfix arrives next week, after which no further updates or patches will be released.
– The new Iron Banner armor set has a 4-piece bonus that refunds super energy on final blows while in super, making it extremely powerful in PvE.
– With at least 100 super, six kills can refund 33% of super energy per cast, and certain exotic combinations push that to 80-100% refund.
– The Warlock exotic Astrocyte Verse generates Dark Blink Seekers that count as super kills, refunding about 66% of super energy without using the super itself.
– Bungie is unlikely to nerf these interactions because the team is winding down and prioritizing only critical fixes.
We are now in the final stretch of Destiny 2 receiving any form of updates, with only one more hotfix scheduled for next week before the live team shuts down entirely. Yet, that hasn’t stopped players from uncovering mechanics that, under normal circumstances, would have drawn immediate nerfs due to their sheer power.
The latest discovery revolves around the new Iron Banner armor set, which features a pair of set bonuses. The full 4-piece bonus is shaping up to be one of the most potent super regeneration tools in the game, capable of nearly or completely refilling a super immediately after casting.
The Iron Banner Battalion 4-piece bonus refunds super energy on final blows while you are in your super. Although Iron Banner gear is typically earned through PvP and its weapons are loaded with perks designed for competitive play, this armor set bonus is proving to be extraordinarily effective in PvE. Some players suspect there may be unintended interactions at work.
Early testing reveals that with just six kills and at least 100 super stat, players can recover 33% of their super energy per cast with most supers. But certain combinations push that number far higher.
For example, Shards of Galanor normally refunds 50% of your super. When stacked with the Iron Banner set’s 33%, you can get an 83% super refund per cast.
The Gathering Storm Hunter super, combined with Raiju’s Harness, can deliver between 80% and 100% super energy back when paired with close-range kills.
On Warlock, Nova Bomb with Skull of Ahamkara can achieve a full refund if you detonate one nova first and use the second to kill adds.
Perhaps the most absurd interaction involves the Warlock exotic Astrocyte Verse. It doesn’t require super kills at all. Instead, the Dark Blink Seekers generated by that helmet count as super kills, triggering the set bonus to refund energy. When combined with an actual super, those Seekers can help regenerate roughly 66% of your super. So far, this is the only out-of-super ability that seems to work this way.
Will this get nerfed? Almost certainly not. Bungie’s Destiny team is operating on its last legs, only delivering patches for critical issues like vendor reputation or broken mission components. The only things that have been disabled permanently are set bonuses that negatively impacted PvP. As for something powerful and fun in PvE? There is simply no one left to balance it, and honestly, few seem to care anymore. Let the supers and Dark Blink Seekers fly.
