Vampire Survivors Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

A dedicated Vampire Survivors Nintendo Switch 2 version is officially in development, developer Poncle has confirmed. While the indie sensation is already playable on the new hardware through backwards compatibility, the team is building a native port to take full advantage of the system’s capabilities.

The original Switch release of Vampire Survivors has been a massive success, but the upcoming Switch 2 edition promises enhanced performance and smoother gameplay. Poncle also revealed plans to implement optional mouse support, a feature that could significantly change how players interact with the game’s frantic bullet-hell action.

For those unfamiliar with the phenomenon, Vampire Survivors is a gothic horror rogue-lite where players cut down endless waves of night creatures in a desperate fight to see the dawn. The core loop is deceptively simple: survive as long as possible against hundreds of monsters, collect gold to purchase upgrades, and try new strategies with each run. The entire game supports 1-4 player couch co-op as well.

New players should note a few key tips. Take time to grab gems and items, as they won’t disappear. Start with two or three offensive weapons but focus on leveling them one at a time. Armor and Luck are solid early power-ups to invest in, and don’t be afraid to refund power-ups frequently, it is free and allows you to experiment with different upgrade paths.

This week has been particularly busy for Vampire Survivors fans. Alongside the Switch 2 announcement, Poncle rolled out a significant 1.15 update and unveiled the Legacy of the Bloodmoon expansion. Both additions bring fresh content and challenges to the already massive game.
