▼ Summary

– Xreal launched the “X By Xreal” subbrand with its first customizable smart glasses, the a01, coming to the US in July starting at $299.
– The a01 glasses feature interchangeable front frames and a “highly stable anti-shake mode” for image clarity.
– Unlike premium AR glasses, the a01 lacks degrees-of-freedom support for tracking wearer movements and head rotations.
– The glasses include an “industry-first spatial anti-shake algorithm” that reduces shake during turbulent motions like riding.
– Xreal says wearers can 3D print their own custom front frame designs for the a01.

Augmented reality company Xreal is expanding its lineup with a new subbrand called X By Xreal (XBX). The first product under this label, the a01 smart glasses, is set to arrive in the U.S. this July with a starting price of just $299. Designed for everyday wear, these lightweight AR spectacles come with two standout features: a highly stable anti-shake mode and interchangeable front frames.

While the a01 doesn’t offer the full six degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) tracking found in pricier AR headsets, which allows for precise head movement and rotation detection, Xreal has introduced what it calls an “industry-first spatial anti-shake algorithm.” This technology works to maintain image clarity by reducing vibration and shake during more jarring activities, such as riding in a car or walking briskly. The trade-off in positional tracking is offset by a focus on comfort and personalization. Wearers can swap out the front frames to change the look of the glasses, and Xreal even notes that users can 3D print their own custom designs to match their style. The a01 marks a strategic push by Xreal to make augmented reality more accessible and fashion-forward, targeting a broader audience than its premium models.
