Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be a boots-on-the-ground experience, with Treyarch confirming the game won’t feature futuristic movement mechanics like wall-running or jetpacks. Instead, players can expect a refined version of the omnimovement system introduced in Black Ops 6, offering fluid gameplay without straying too far from traditional Call of Duty combat.

During a recent episode of the official Call of Duty podcast, host Stephanie Snowden put an end to speculation about advanced movement options. When asked whether Black Ops 7 would include wall-running or jetpacks, she clarified, “I can confirm no wall-running, no jetpacks, but it will feature an evolution of omnimovement.” While some fans might miss the high-flying action of past titles, leaks suggest the game could still introduce subtle enhancements like wall-jumps or double jumps, keeping movement dynamic without breaking realism.

The podcast also featured insights from Treyarch’s associate creative director, Miles Leslie, who discussed the campaign settings showcased in the recent Xbox Games Showcase trailer. One notable location is Japan, marking the first time the Black Ops series has explored the region in depth. Leslie expressed excitement about the setting, stating, “We’re super excited about this because Black Ops has never gone really deep into Japan.”

Another key location confirmed for the campaign is Avalon, a map previously rumored to be the next Warzone battleground. Instead, Avalon will serve as a backdrop for co-op missions and Zombies content, supporting up to four players. The trailer teased a squad descending onto Avalon with wingsuits, sparking speculation about a potential battle royale mode. While Snowden didn’t rule out the possibility, she confirmed the scene was tied to the campaign, leaving the door open for future Warzone integration.

The podcast also addressed the rocky launch of Black Ops 6 Season 4, acknowledging player frustrations with bugs and performance issues. Snowden assured listeners that the team has been working on fixes, saying, “When there are bugs or issues present in the game, we know that’s frustrating. Since then, we’ve been focused on patching and updating a number of those issues.”

Looking ahead, Season 5 will introduce the final Zombies map for Black Ops 6, while Season 4 Reloaded continues to roll out new multiplayer maps, events, and modes.
