The latest handheld gimbal camera from DJI has officially arrived. The Osmo Pocket 4 builds upon the popular design of its predecessor, focusing on enhanced performance rather than a complete hardware overhaul. This new model delivers significant improvements in slow-motion video quality and photo resolution, though its initial launch will not include the United States market.

A company spokesperson confirmed that the device will not be available in the US, as its application for authorization remains pending. It is, however, launching in Europe and the UK in three distinct bundles. The entry-level Essential Combo is priced around £429 and includes a basic pouch and handle. For creators seeking more, the Standard and Creator Combos add accessories like a gimbal clamp, a magnetic fill light, a wide-angle lens, and even a wireless DJI Mic 3.

At its core, the camera features an updated 1-inch sensor which DJI states provides 14 stops of dynamic range for superior performance in challenging lighting conditions. The familiar rotating 2-inch OLED touchscreen now features two new physical buttons when oriented in landscape mode. One controls digital zoom, while the other offers a customizable shortcut. Below them sits a new 5D analog joystick for intuitive control over the gimbal’s movement and camera orientation.

The headline upgrades are found in its capture capabilities. For videographers, the device can now record 4K slow-motion video at an impressive 240 frames per second. Photographers benefit from a substantial jump in still image resolution, which has increased to 37 megapixels through an optimized processing algorithm. The camera also includes 107GB of built-in storage with fast transfer speeds, supplementing the existing microSD card slot.

Intelligent features have received a boost with the new ActiveTrack 7.0 system. This enhanced subject tracking works reliably even at the maximum 4x zoom and can identify and follow people, animals, and vehicles. It allows for face-specific locking and can prioritize pre-registered subjects. For solo creators, gesture controls enable remote operation: showing your palm to the camera controls tracking, while a peace sign starts and stops recording.

Additional refinements include six new film tone filters, with one offering a Fuji-inspired aesthetic, and built-in beauty filters for portrait work. These features are complemented by the optional fill light accessory, which provides adjustable brightness and color temperature settings. Together, these updates solidify the Osmo Pocket 4 as a powerful, all-in-one filmmaking tool designed for the modern content creator.
