With WWDC 2026 just two weeks away, anticipation is building for Apple’s next wave of operating system updates. While rumors have focused on major features, there are several under-the-radar improvements I’m hoping to see in OS 27 that haven’t been widely discussed.

First on my wishlist is the Health app on the Mac. Apple brought Health to the iPad two years ago, and having all that data on a larger screen has been a game-changer. Bringing the same experience to the Mac would allow users to track and analyze their wellness metrics without reaching for a phone or tablet.

Another logical step is iPhone Mirroring on the iPad. The Mac gained this capability last year, letting users control iPhone apps not available on macOS, like Health itself. It’s a feature I miss when using the iPad, and adding it would make the tablet an even more versatile hub for Apple’s ecosystem.

Conversely, I’d love to see iPad Mirroring on the Mac. While it might not appeal to everyone, it completes the Continuity vision: every Apple device should offer a window into others. It’s a natural progression for seamless cross-device workflows.

The Journal app also needs attention. It arrived on the Mac last year, but the desktop version lacks the rich content suggestions found on iPhone and iPad. I hope Apple boosts Journal sync performance to match Apple Notes’ instant reliability. For me, Journal on the Mac is a daily driver, and these upgrades would make it even better.

On the Apple Watch, I’d welcome a Liquid Glass appearance toggle. While the Liquid Glass aesthetic on the Mac has drawn criticism for feeling less polished, the transparent design on the Watch can be jarring, especially for notifications. I don’t use tinted Liquid Glass on other devices, but I’d enable it on the Watch if given the choice.

The iPad’s window limit also needs expansion. iPadOS 26 made strides with floating windows, but the system still feels constrained. The current cap of 12 app windows sounds generous, but I routinely exceed that on my Mac with lightweight apps. In laptop mode, the iPad forces windows to drop off, which undercuts its potential as a true productivity tool.

Finally, I’m hoping for a Wallet app everywhere. The iPhone’s Wallet is excellent, but it remains trapped in Settings on iPad and Mac. Apple’s transition of Passwords from Settings to a dedicated app showed how this can work seamlessly. Wallet deserves the same treatment, becoming a full-fledged app across all platforms.

What features are you hoping to see at WWDC 2026? The keynote kicks off in two weeks on June 8, where Apple will unveil iOS 27, macOS 27, and more.
