Google Pixel users now have a fresh way to personalize their home screens, and the latest option is turning heads. A new “Disco” icon pack is rolling out for Pixel phones, and it is certainly making a statement.
Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google, confirmed the release. The concept originated from a Twitter/X thread showcasing a “discomorphism” design on apps like YouTube and Claude. Samat initially discussed the possibility seriously, and now it is a reality for Pixel owners.
The “Disco” icon pack transforms each app icon with a disco ball effect set against a black background. When applied to your home screen, it creates a distinctive, energetic vibe that stands out from standard icon sets.
This addition joins Google’s existing lineup of AI-generated icon styles: “Scribbles,” “Cookies,” “Stardust,” “Easel,” and “Treasure.” All of these packs, introduced in the March 2026 Feature Drop, use AI generation to recreate each icon, allowing users to tweak color palettes and other elements. While it offers a simple way to customize your device, the feature remains somewhat limited in scope, as noted in earlier coverage.
The “Disco” pack is available now. Whether you embrace the retro flair or stick with a more subdued look, it adds another playful layer to Pixel customization. Interestingly, Pixel phones recently lost their SpongeBob-themed theme pack and have not yet received a replacement.
