Microsoft has rolled out a fresh system update for Xbox consoles, and among the most notable additions is the option to turn off Quick Resume for specific games. This long-requested feature gives players more control over a function that, while impressive, has sometimes caused headaches.
Quick Resume remains one of the standout capabilities of the Xbox Series X and Series S, allowing players to hop between multiple titles almost instantly. However, it hasn’t been flawless. Multiplayer games and titles that depend on a persistent internet connection have occasionally stumbled after being suspended for too long. Microsoft acknowledged this directly, stating, “We’ve heard your feedback around performance after long periods of inactivity or with games that rely heavily on online connections.”
Beyond this tweak, the update introduces several other quality-of-life improvements. Players can now create up to ten groups on the Home screen, a significant jump from the previous limit of two. The interface also supports custom color options, and a new section makes it easier to browse your play history.
On the PC gaming front, Microsoft has added the ability to use a gamepad as a mouse and allows users to pin up to three games to the “Jump back in” and “Most Recent” lists. Additionally, the company has started testing Auto SR, its competitor to NVIDIA’s DLSS, on the Asus ROG Ally X handheld.
