Porsche has unveiled a remarkably exclusive new model that pays tribute to one of its most influential figures. The 911 GT3 90 F.A. Porsche honors the legacy of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the grandson of the founder and the visionary designer behind the iconic shape of the original 911. This limited-run vehicle, revealed on what would have been his 90th birthday, is restricted to just 90 individually crafted examples.
Each car will be produced by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch Manufaktur division, which specializes in bespoke client commissions. The exterior is finished in a distinctive F.A. Green, a hue directly inspired by the Oak Green paint found on F.A. Porsche’s personal 911. Completing the exterior look are Satin Black wheels featuring a vintage-style Porsche crest at the center.
Inside, the tribute continues with thoughtful details that reflect the designer’s personal taste. The seats are upholstered in a grid-weave fabric reminiscent of his favorite sports jacket. A special clock, modeled after the Chronograph 1 timepiece created for him, is mounted atop the dashboard. Further personal touches include a walnut shift lever handle and a commemorative plaque bearing F.A. Porsche’s signature alongside a silhouette of the first-generation 911.
These meticulous elements would certainly resonate with the honoree, who not only shaped legendary cars like the original 911 and the 904 but also founded the globally recognized Porsche Design studio.
Mechanically, the tribute car is based on the 911 GT3 with the Touring Package. It is powered by a high-revving 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 502 horsepower. While the standard GT3 Touring starts at $230,500, the exclusive F.A. Porsche edition commands a premium, with a price tag of $387,000.
The production cap of 90 units is a direct nod to F.A. Porsche’s 90th birthday. One of these highly collectible cars has already been reserved for his son, Mark Porsche. Production is scheduled to begin in the latter part of next year, allowing the select group of buyers an opportunity for further personalization through the Sonderwunsch program.
The car stands as a fitting homage to a man whose design philosophy centered on functional beauty. F.A. Porsche often stated, “When you consider the function of a product, in most cases the form follows suit automatically.” The enduring and iconic shape of the 911 remains the ultimate testament to that principle.
