The highly anticipated Analogue 3D, a modern hardware emulator capable of playing original Nintendo 64 cartridges in 4K resolution, is about to get a major splash of color. On December 10th at 8AM Pacific Time, the company will launch a series of vibrant, transparent “Funtastic” limited edition consoles. These special models are a direct homage to the beloved Funtastic series of N64 consoles from the early 2000s. Priced at $299, they will cost slightly more than the standard version and will be available in what Analogue describes as “highly limited quantities.”

The company states it spent over a year meticulously matching the new console’s colors to the originals, resulting in hues it calls “identical to the originals.” The lineup faithfully revives the classic palette with models named Fire, Watermelon, Grape, Ice, Jungle, Clear, and Smoke. Alongside these translucent options, a special non-transparent gold edition will also be released. This model draws inspiration from a rare Toys R Us special edition N64, a console that now commands prices in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the secondary market.

This colorful launch isn’t just about the console itself. A matching series of limited edition 8BitDo 64 controllers will also go on sale simultaneously on December 10th, offering a complete, coordinated setup for enthusiasts. For those who prefer a more subdued aesthetic, Analogue will also be restocking the standard black and white versions of the Analogue 3D on the same date. These will be priced at $269, a small increase from earlier this year, and are scheduled to begin shipping to customers in January.

The announcement timing, however, has created a bit of a dilemma for some fans. Customers who recently purchased a restocked black or white unit, or who are still waiting for one, might feel they missed an opportunity by less than a month to secure a far more exclusive colorful model. This situation adds to existing feedback about the system’s controllers. As noted previously, the buttons on the standard Analogue 3D controller are not color-matched to the original N64 controller’s distinctive layout. For that specific nostalgic detail, players will need to purchase a separate, differently configured version of the 8BitDo controller slated for release in January.
