Just ahead of the official launch, the development team behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has released the complete Day One patch notes. These notes detail a wide array of refinements made since the recent Beta phase, touching on Aim Assist behavior, movement mechanics, XP progression, and extensive weapon balancing across nearly every category.

Aim Assist has undergone several key modifications. The distance required to achieve full Rotational Aim Assist strength has been increased, while its effectiveness at very long ranges has been slightly boosted. A new requirement for right stick input has also been implemented for Rotational Aim Assist to activate. Movement feels more fluid with smoother and faster mantling, and an issue allowing players to dive at slower-than-intended speeds has been fixed. Slide acceleration, top speed, and duration have all been slightly reduced.

Weapon XP earn rates have been increased across the board. Players will find their weapons level up significantly faster than in the Beta, reaching their maximum level approximately 25% quicker than in Black Ops 6. Daily Challenge Bonus XP has been raised from 3,000 to 5,000 XP. A new quality-of-life feature allows players to Re-Roll one Daily Challenge per day, per mode, swapping out an undesirable objective for a new one. The Overclock earn rate has been standardized to be consistent across all Lethal, Tactical, Field Upgrade, and Scorestreak items.

A substantial number of new and returning Medals have been added for both Multiplayer and Zombies modes, viewable in the Career > Stats menu.

Weapon balancing is the most extensive part of the update. General changes affect all weapon classes, with increased penalties for aiming down sights and firing while jumping. Specific adjustments have been made to numerous weapons and their attachments.

For Assault Rifles, the M15 Mod 0 sees a significant reduction in its maximum damage range, making four-shot kills with headshots beyond close range more difficult. Its associated attachments, like barrels and grips, have received nerfs to their bullet velocity, damage range, and recoil control benefits. The MXR-17 and Peacekeeper Mk1 have also seen various attachments tuned down, particularly those affecting recoil control, movement speed, and damage range.

Submachine Guns received similar general jump penalty increases. The Ryden 45K, Razor 9mm, and Dravec 45 have all had their damage ranges reduced, but the Dravec 45 gets a slight boost to its headshot multiplier.

In the Shotgun category, the M10 Breacher has a longer charge time and wider hipfire spreads. Its Dragon’s Breath ammunition has seen severe range reductions, while 12 Gauge Slugs have received damage increases at most ranges and adjusted damage scaling for different body parts. The Echo 12 has also been adjusted, with changes to its Dragon’s Breath and Slug ammunition performance.

Light Machine Guns and Marksman Rifles have seen their jump penalties increased, though not as severely as other classes. The MK.78 LMG has several of its attachments nerfed, including reduced bullet velocity on barrels and increased penalties on large ammo belts.

For Sniper Rifles, the VS Recon has improved rechamber stability, while the XR-3 Ion has seen adjustments to its barrel attachments and damage multipliers.

Pistols like the Jager 45 and Coda 9 have seen reductions in the effectiveness of their compensators, barrels, and grips. An issue with Akimbo Jager 45s having slower-than-intended Sprint-to-Fire speed has been fixed.

Launchers are generally easier to aim now, with reduced sway and a new system that starts ADS perfectly centered. The A.R.C. M1 launcher’s projectile now travels in a perfectly straight line as intended.

General weapon attachments have also been rebalanced. The Mobility Spread Muzzle and Tactical Spread Stock now provide better hip-fire accuracy. The Mobility Foregrip improves general Movement Speed but no longer buffs Sprint Speed. Fast Mags and Flip Mags have received increased starting and maximum ammo to compensate for their smaller magazine sizes. The Millimeter Scanner attachment has had its scan distance doubled and can now detect faster-moving targets.

In Multiplayer, several maps have received spawn point updates and objective location tweaks. The Overload mode now has a much faster device reset timer. Several Perks have been combined to create more impactful choices, such as Gearhead now including Quartermaster benefits. Equipment like the Needle Drone now eliminates on direct impact, and the Sensor Grenade is more responsive.

Field Upgrades have seen charge time rebalancing, and the Squad Link’s duration and area of effect have been reduced. Scorestreaks have received health, cost, and behavior adjustments. The D.A.W.G. has a reduced fire delay and can now use map traversals more frequently, while the Sentry Turret has increased targeting distance.

A notable audio change removes the guitar riff that played when killing or being killed by a Nemesis.

For Zombies, the Vandorn Farm map has seen adjustments to the Chompy interaction and trap costs. A critical issue reducing bullet penetration damage has been fixed. Damage multipliers for Legendary and high-level Pack-a-Punched Assault Rifles, SMGs, Marksman Rifles, and Shotguns have been slightly increased. Specific weapons like the MXR-17 and A.R.C M1 have received ammo and charge time buffs, respectively. The UI for the Exfil Vote has been updated for better clarity.

The developers have also included a list of known issues that are being investigated for future updates.
