The highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is officially in development, following the successful release of the first volume that brought the franchise’s foundational titles to contemporary gaming systems. While Konami has yet to reveal the specific games that will be included, a recent statement from the series’ producer confirms the project is actively moving forward, sparking widespread speculation among the fan community.
At the Tokyo Game Show, producer Noriaki Okamura addressed inquiries about the collection’s next installment. According to a fan translation shared online, Okamura acknowledged the project’s existence but indicated that details are not yet ready for public disclosure. He noted that the team requires a bit more time before they can share concrete information, confirming only that development is progressing.
A significant portion of the speculation centers on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a title famously locked to the PlayStation 3 and never ported to other platforms. Its inclusion would be a major draw for players who never had the chance to experience it. Furthermore, the first Master Collection omitted several key entries, leaving room for Vol. 2 to incorporate them. These omissions include Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, originally a PSP game later remastered for the HD Collection, and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.
It is also plausible that the collection could encompass both segments of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, providing a comprehensive package of the mainline series. Until Konami provides an official list, however, these remain educated guesses based on the gaps left by the initial release.
In related news, the multiplayer component for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, titled Fox Hunt, is scheduled to launch on October 30. Looking further ahead, producer Yuji Korekado has previously suggested that more remakes could be on the horizon. Both Okamura and Korekado have expressed that should new games in the series move forward, they would prefer to hand the creative reins to a new generation of developers to shape the future of the iconic franchise.
