The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to dominate the gaming market with remarkable sales momentum, significantly outperforming its predecessor during its second month of availability in the United States. Industry data reveals that the new console has already surpassed two million units sold, establishing a sales pace that is 75% higher than the original Switch achieved at the same stage of its lifecycle.

According to insights from Circana’s senior director and gaming analyst Mat Piscatella, the second month performance of the Switch 2 has been nothing short of explosive. This surge in consumer interest has contributed substantially to overall hardware spending, which reached an impressive $384 million in the period, marking the highest monthly hardware revenue since July 2008. That earlier peak featured a diverse lineup including the Nintendo Wii, DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP.

Exclusive titles are also benefiting from the console’s popularity. Donkey Kong Bananza, a Switch 2 exclusive, made a strong debut on the July sales charts, securing the number three spot. It trailed only behind the EA Sports MVP Bundle and EA Sports College Football 26, both of which appeal heavily to the mainstream American gaming audience.

This continued success follows an already record-breaking launch in June 2025, when the Switch 2 achieved the biggest first-month sales of any new video game hardware platform. Piscatella previously emphasized that Nintendo had prepared ample supply to match the intense consumer demand, a strategy that appears to be paying off as sales remain robust. The sustained enthusiasm suggests that the Switch 2 is well-positioned for long-term market leadership.
