Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy A27, but the latest budget-friendly offering comes with a mixed bag of updates. Priced at $349.99, that’s a $50 increase over last year’s Galaxy A26. While price hikes are hardly surprising given today’s economic pressures, this one stings a bit more because Samsung has actually downgraded several key specifications.
Compared to its predecessor, the A27 features a lower resolution 12-megapixel selfie camera and a 5-megapixel ultrawide lens. The device also sees a step down in durability, now carrying only an IP64 water resistance rating instead of the higher standard found on the A26. And for those who care about slim profiles, the phone is now slightly thicker at 7.8mm.
Many core specs remain unchanged. You still get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery, a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, and a 50-megapixel main rear camera. The one genuine improvement is a shift from the Exynos 1380 processor to a Qualcomm chipset, which should offer better performance and efficiency. The US launch is limited to a black color option, though blue and pink variants will be available in other markets.
