Samsung confirms Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, but its most exciting foldable gets a bland name

Samsung is gearing up to release two Galaxy Z Fold 8 models later this year, and official documentation now confirms that one of them will carry the “Ultra” branding. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, with five separate entries listing various model numbers for different regional variants of the same device, as reported by SumahoDigest. While the Ultra name has surfaced in rumors before, this certification adds credible weight to those earlier whispers, given the authority of an official listing.

The database entry does not reveal any hardware specifications, so concrete details about the device remain under wraps. However, the listing does confirm that Samsung intends to append “Ultra” to one of its foldable models this year. Recent speculation suggests the company will reserve the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 name for a shorter, wider version of the foldable, one that would lack any additional identifier. If that plan holds, the wider variant will simply be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, meanwhile, is expected to replace what many initially believed would be the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. It will reportedly share a similar footprint with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 but will introduce several upgrades to justify the “Ultra” designation. According to earlier leaks, this premium model will pack a 5,000mAh battery and run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It is also rumored to measure roughly 4.1mm when unfolded, making it both thinner and slightly lighter than its predecessor.

With official certification now in hand, Samsung’s foldable lineup for 2026 is taking clearer shape. The company appears to be splitting its flagship foldable into two distinct offerings: a compact, wider standard model and a thinner, more powerful Ultra variant.
