In a recent video, Fallout co-creator Tim Cain argued that gaming influencers have fundamentally altered how players engage with titles, often replacing personal judgment with handed-down opinions. He noted that while some developers now design moments specifically for live-streamed reactions, the bigger shift is in how audiences consume content. “Now we’re in the 2020s and many gamers don’t even look to influencers for reviews,” Cain said. “They look to influencers to be told how to think about the games.” He explained that nuanced takes like “this game has less combat and more puzzles and dialogues” get flattened into quick, dismissive labels such as “this game is stupid and slow paced and made for casuals.” The abundance of titles and limited time push people toward instant takes over thoughtful analysis.

Cain acknowledged a positive side: players can now quickly find creators whose tastes align with their own, getting a fast read on whether a game might suit them. But the downside, he warned, is that many gamers are abdicating their own critical thinking. “It’s like ‘I don’t want to think about it, you tell me what I should think about it,’” he added.

Sony has raised the price of refurbished PS5s, bumping them up by $100 to match the recent hike for new units. Even though these older consoles didn’t become more expensive to manufacture, buyers now face a higher premium.

Over at Square Enix, Final Fantasy 7 Remake part 3 director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed he’s already completed the unreleased game over 40 times. “We’re very excited about how the game is currently progressing,” he told Nintendo Life. “I have already completed over 40 full playthroughs! I can’t wait for as many people as possible to experience the game for themselves.”

Sony also teased a glimpse of Horizon Hunters Gathering modes, sharing a clip of Machine Incursion where every team decision affects your progress.

Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 are already in active development. YouTuber Rebs Gaming claimed to have received proof that both projects are happening, with the first remake, Halo: Campaign Evolved, expected as early as this summer.

Disney+ has released a condensed four-minute version of the opening sequence from The Mandalorian and Grogu, ahead of the film’s May 22 release.

Netflix’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, directed by Greta Gerwig, will debut in IMAX theaters in February 2027 before hitting the streaming service that April. The delay from its original 2026 window reflects a packed blockbuster calendar.

Finally, Hollow Knight: Silksong fans are buzzing after a developer posted a monocle emoji in response to a question about the Sea of Sorrow DLC. While no real evidence of a May announcement exists, hopes are rising for news later this year.
