Nintendo Switch Online subscribers now have three new classic NES titles to explore. The latest additions to the Nintendo Classics library include the 1988 arcade port of Pac-Man, the 1989 puzzle-action game Mendel Palace, and the 1984 action-RPG The Tower of Druaga. These same three games were also added for Japanese subscribers this week.

In Pac-Man, players guide the iconic yellow character through mazes, consuming pellets while evading four persistent ghosts. Strategic use of warp tunnels and Power Pellets, which temporarily allow Pac-Man to chase the ghosts, is key to clearing each stage. Collecting fruit like cherries and strawberries provides bonus points for players aiming for a high score.

Mendel Palace, originally released in 1990, is a distinctive puzzle-action title developed by Game Freak, the studio behind Pokémon. Players control Bon-Bon, who must rescue his friend Candy from a dream world by flipping floor panels to defeat enemy dolls. The core gameplay revolves around flipping panels to push adversaries into walls, with some panels offering special effects to clear stages more efficiently.

The Tower of Druaga presents a challenging maze-climbing adventure. Players assume the role of the hero Gil, ascending a 60-floor tower to defeat the ruler Druaga and rescue the maiden Ki. Success requires finding a key on each floor to progress. The game is known for its high difficulty, where many enemies can defeat Gil in a single hit. Discovering secret tasks on each floor is crucial, as they reward vital hidden items like a wall-destroying pickax or speed-boosting boots. Missing these key items can make progression impossible.

Access to these new retro games requires an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. The service continues to expand its catalog of classic titles, offering a blend of well-known franchises and deeper cuts for subscribers to enjoy.
