Instead, Blizzard has unveiled a completely new hero named Sierra, an antagonist with her own complicated history involving the notorious faction.

A new animated trailer provides our first look, though her in-game model remains unseen. The short film depicts a confrontation between Sierra and the cyborg Emre. Despite a fierce exchange, Emre gains the advantage and escapes with Freja, who warns Sierra to abandon her crusade against Talon and the Deadlock Gang. These groups are currently aiding the villain Vendetta in her global campaign. The footage offers crucial hints about Sierra’s gameplay kit. She demonstrates high agility, wields a pulse rifle, and utilizes a homing device that locks onto targets to guide projectiles. In a standout moment, she tethers herself to a personal drone, using it for rapid aerial traversal across the battlefield, suggesting significant mobility options will be a core part of her design.

All mysteries will be solved when Sierra joins Overwatch at the launch of Season 2 next week on April 14. Her arrival continues the game’s ongoing narrative focus, as Blizzard has confirmed every new hero this year will factor into the Talon-centric storyline that began last season. While her specific vendetta against the Deadlock Gang is clear, her full role in the broader Overwatch story is yet to be revealed.
