Turtle Beach has expanded its licensed Rematch RGB Wireless Gaming Controller lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2 with two vibrant new models featuring illuminated artwork. The company also introduced a matching glow-in-the-dark PlayTrek travel case, offering fans fresh ways to personalize their gaming setup. These releases continue the brand’s strategy of delivering officially licensed peripherals with distinctive visual flair.
While themed Rematch controllers are not new, these latest editions boast some of the most impressive lighting effects seen on the platform. The technique involves backlighting key elements of the controller’s artwork, creating a radiant glow reminiscent of the patterned RGB lights found in Turtle Beach’s Afterglow Wave controller. This approach transforms static images into dynamic displays.
The Rosalina controller depicts the beloved Super Mario Galaxy character in her classic render, set against a backdrop of light blue and white. The design is scattered with blue and yellow stars and features a silhouette of her Comet Observatory. When activated, the backlight makes the stars and castle silhouette shine. The Koopa Troop controller showcases Bowser and his minions chasing Mario on a silver background, accented by a simple, 70s-style gradient of earth-tone stripes near the bottom. Here, the characters themselves become illuminated.
In terms of specifications, these controllers serve as feature-rich alternatives to the Switch 2 Pro controller. They are equipped with drift-resistant TMR analog sticks, full motion controls, and a complete button layout that includes the C-button. They do, however, lack rumble functionality and the ability to wake the Switch 2 console from sleep. Turtle Beach rates the battery life at up to 40 hours per charge, with a Bluetooth range extending to 30 feet. Their absence of rumble and wake features means they may not be the ultimate primary controller, but their solid performance and striking design make them excellent Player 2 controller options.
The accompanying Koopa Troop PlayTrek case mirrors the controller’s hand-drawn 2D artwork. Its design follows the established standard for Switch 2 travel cases, featuring a main compartment for the console, an elasticated flap for game cartridges, and a zippered pocket in the lid for accessories. While it has no built-in lighting, the case incorporates glow-in-the-dark ink on the character outlines, creating a subtle luminescent effect in the dark.
All three accessories are available for preorder immediately. The Rosalina and Koopa Troop Rematch controllers are scheduled for release on May 4, priced at $64.99 each. The Koopa Troop PlayTrek travel case will follow on June 14 for $29.99.
