At the forefront of the United Arab Emirates’ digital evolution, Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has become the nation’s first utility provider to adopt the WAYN Digital P.O. Box platform. This strategic integration, unveiled at GITEX Global 2025, introduces a secure and fully paperless system for delivering bills and payment notifications to customers. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the country’s ongoing digital transformation, offering a modern alternative to traditional billing methods.
Customers of EtihadWE will now have their bills sent directly to their personal WAYN account. This lifetime digital mailbox is linked to the UAE Pass, providing residents with a single, protected destination for receiving official correspondence from both government bodies and private service providers. A key advantage of the WAYN system is its robust security framework, which permits only verified and authenticated organizations to distribute messages. This design effectively removes the dangers associated with spam emails and fraudulent paper mail, ensuring that communications are both legitimate and secure.
Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, the Chief Executive Officer of EtihadWE, highlighted the company’s dedication to innovation and enhancing customer experience. He stated that the partnership with WAYN gives customers peace of mind, knowing their billing information is delivered and stored with the highest level of security in one centralized location. He further noted that this move actively supports the growth of the UAE’s fintech and smart services landscape by facilitating transactions that are trusted, cashless, and digitally verifiable.
Echoing this sentiment, Tariq Al Wahedi, Group CEO of 7X, the developer behind the WAYN platform, commented on the broader impact of the collaboration. He expressed that EtihadWE’s adoption of WAYN is setting a new standard for convenience and trust in how companies communicate with their users. This partnership, he affirmed, solidifies the UAE’s reputation as a global frontrunner in the delivery of advanced digital services and the protection of user data.
This collaboration is fully aligned with the UAE’s national objectives for digital transformation and environmental sustainability. By drastically cutting down on paper consumption, the initiative promotes greater operational efficiency, enhances transparency, and supports ecological responsibility. EtihadWE customers benefit from the ability to access their billing details at any time and from any location, a feature that reinforces the country’s strategic move towards a more intelligent and interconnected digital economy.
