BMW is commemorating a significant automotive milestone with the M340i 50 Jahre Edition, a limited-run model celebrating fifty years of the iconic 3 Series. Initially revealed for Canada, this exclusive version is now officially confirmed for the United States market, ensuring American enthusiasts won’t miss out on this tribute to one of BMW’s most celebrated sport sedans.

Priced at $75,200 before destination and handling fees, the U.S.-spec M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition arrives in a single, fully-loaded configuration. The car honors each generation of the 3 Series through five distinct design packages, each pairing a heritage-inspired exterior color with coordinated interior upholstery and brake caliper finishes.

The lineup begins with Ruby Red Metallic, an homage to the original E21, featuring an Ivory interior and red calipers. Next, the E30-inspired Boston Green Metallic model comes with Tartufo upholstery and blue calipers. For the E36 generation, Avus Blue Metallic is paired again with Tartufo and blue calipers. The E46 tribute wears Carbon Black Metallic with a black interior and red calipers, while the E90 generation is represented by Sparkling Graphite Metallic, Tartufo upholstery, and red calipers.

Every 50 Jahre Edition includes black Shadowline trim on the signature kidney grilles and lower air intakes, along with available M Shadowline full LED headlights. Exterior enhancements continue with an M Performance carbon fiber lip spoiler, a commemorative trunk badge, and gloss-black 19-inch M wheels. A notable addition is the M Performance exhaust system with Shadowline tailpipes, enhancing both sound and style.

Inside, the cabin receives several exclusive upgrades. For the first time in a U.S.-market 3 Series, BMW offers extended Merino leather upholstery, which covers not only the seats but also the door panels and armrests, creating a more cohesive and luxurious environment. While it’s unclear if the lower center console is included, the overall effect is decidedly upscale. Additional interior features include carbon fiber trim, a Harman Kardon audio system, custom scuff plates, and a commemorative metal plaque on the cupholder cover.

Under the hood, the powertrain remains unchanged from the standard M340i, retaining the robust 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance. Output stays at 386 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive. The only mechanical update is the inclusion of the M Performance exhaust, which may refine the engine note without altering performance figures. The car continues to deliver impressive acceleration, reaching 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.1 seconds.

BMW has opened order books for the 50 Jahre Edition, with production already underway. The first customer deliveries in the United States are scheduled to begin in early 2026, offering a fitting tribute to five decades of 3 Series excellence.
