Google’s annual hardware showcase, Made by Google 2025, brought a wave of new devices and features to the tech world, headlined by the Pixel 10 smartphone lineup, a refined Pixel Watch 4, and the budget-friendly Pixel Buds 2a. While many of the announcements were expected, several software enhancements and design improvements stood out as notable upgrades.
The Pixel 10 series includes four distinct models: the standard Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. All models are powered by the new Tensor G5 chipset, which Google claims offers a 60% performance boost over its predecessor. Each device also promises up to 30 hours of battery life and will receive seven years of software and security updates.
Starting at $799, the base Pixel 10 features a 6.3-inch Actua display, 12GB of RAM, and an upgraded camera system with a 5x telephoto lens capable of 10x optical zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro, priced from $999, increases RAM to 16GB and introduces a Super Actua display with a peak brightness of 3,300 nits. Its telephoto lens supports an impressive 100x Pro Res Zoom.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL mirrors the Pro model’s specifications but expands the screen to 6.8 inches, starting at $1,199. The star of the show, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, features a 6.4-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner screen. It introduces a new gearless hinge designed to withstand a decade of use and becomes the first foldable with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Preorders began on August 20, with general availability starting August 28 for most models, though the Fold won’t ship until October 9.
Beyond hardware, Google introduced several AI-driven features. Magic Cue acts as a proactive assistant, anticipating user needs based on context, such as pulling up flight details during a call. Camera improvements include Camera Coach for shooting advice and Auto Best Take for merging similar photos into one ideal shot. A new magnetic attachment system called Pixelsnap allows Qi2-compatible accessories to snap onto the back of Pixel 10 devices, similar to Apple’s MagSafe.
The Pixel Buds 2a offer a more affordable alternative to the Pro model, featuring Active Noise Cancellation, spatial audio support, and a 20-hour battery life. Priced at $130, they will be available in Hazel and Iris colors starting October 9.
Finally, the Pixel Watch 4 comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with brighter displays and improved battery life, up to 40 hours for the larger model. A significant upgrade is its new repairable design, allowing users to replace the display and battery. Safety features include Fall and Crash Detection, along with a new SOS satellite communication function for emergencies in areas without cellular service. Preorders began August 20, with availability set for October 9.
