Samsung Electronics has unveiled a major update to its Samsung Health app, turning the upcoming Galaxy Watch into a smarter, more proactive health companion. Starting June 8, the app update will roll out globally, highlighting key features designed for the next-generation wearable. The shift moves beyond passive health tracking toward AI-powered proactive guidance, making it easier for users to interpret complex biometric data, from overnight sleep patterns to daily activity levels, and receive simple, actionable recommendations.

“Samsung Health is evolving to connect health data measured by Galaxy Watch with AI-based insights, enabling users to understand their physical and mental condition more easily and intuitively,” said Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung Electronics will continue to expand proactive and personalized health management experiences based on the connected Galaxy ecosystem and digital health innovations.”

This update marks a significant step in Samsung’s vision for an AI-driven health platform that helps users stay ahead of their well-being. The new features will first debut on the upcoming Galaxy Watch.

Key Features Transforming the Galaxy Watch

The Samsung Health update introduces several new tools designed to make daily health management more intuitive.

Vitals: Deeper Insight into Body Signals – Previously, Samsung Health monitored specific metrics to calculate a daily Energy Score. The new Vitals feature goes further by analyzing five key overnight bio-signals,heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen, against the user’s true resting baseline. It sends alerts only when meaningful deviations occur, helping users decide if they need more rest or might be fighting an illness, all without overwhelming them with constant notifications.

Heart Health Score: A Clearer View of Long-Term Wellness – Building on last year’s Vascular Load feature, Samsung introduces the Heart Health Score. This single daily metric combines insights from sleep, stress, and activity with body composition data. The result is a unified score that highlights which habits are impacting long-term heart health, giving users immediate clarity.

Daily Cardio Load: Smarter Training Guidance – For those focused on aerobic exercise, Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain. It calculates daily load and maximum training capacity to recommend optimal training targets and rest periods, helping users avoid burnout or injury while still reaching their fitness goals.

Fitness Index: Seamless Progress Tracking – The Fitness Index analyzes metrics like heart rate, VO₂ max, and daily steps, comparing them against peers. It identifies individual strengths and weaknesses, then delivers tailored content and personalized goals for continuous improvement.

A Redesigned Samsung Health for Simpler Navigation

To make these proactive insights easily accessible, Samsung Health now features a streamlined layout organized into five core pillars: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. The Home screen offers a centralized view of daily wellness tips alongside the AI-powered Energy Score, removing guesswork from health management and showing how different aspects of a user’s routine interconnect at a glance.

Enhanced Capabilities for Proactive Wellness

Core features are also getting significant upgrades. The Antioxidant Index now provides a clearer roadmap of nutritional intake with new trend charts and daily history logs, visually linking dietary choices to physical responses over time. Meanwhile, the AGEs index has been enhanced to work quietly in the background, capturing automatic overnight measurements to build a long-term picture of how lifestyle choices accumulate in the body.

Samsung is also expanding wellness to external environments with a new Hearing Health feature. Integrated across the Galaxy ecosystem, it monitors ambient noise through the Galaxy Watch and delivers personalized analytics to help protect users’ ears, whether during a loud commute or an intense workout.

A Seamlessly Connected Health Ecosystem

These new features are fully realized within Samsung’s expansive ecosystem, which seamlessly manages health across Galaxy phones and connected devices. This integration ensures personalized insights are always accessible, offering a unified view of user well-being. The advancements set the stage for Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy Watches, engineered to bring this proactive intelligence to life like never before.
