Picsart, a leading AI design platform, has opened a new creator monetisation programme to its entire user base of over 130 million people. This initiative, named Earn with Picsart, fundamentally changes the compensation model by rewarding engagement performance instead of follower count. By removing requirements for a minimum audience size or an invitation, the program directly challenges the traditional scale-based systems dominant on other platforms.
The mechanics are campaign-driven. Creators access a dashboard of active creative prompts and challenges. They then use Picsart’s suite of tools to produce original content, share it on their personal social channels like Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, and finally submit the link with a description of their creative process. Earnings are calculated from metrics including views, comments, shares, and overall reach, with payments processed via Stripe. The company emphasizes that simply generating AI images without authentic creative input is unlikely to yield significant engagement or income.
Campaigns encourage diverse content creation. One example task involves using Picsart Aura, the platform’s conversational AI assistant, to generate and animate characters from text or voice prompts. Eligible formats are broad, encompassing tutorials, aesthetic edits, and short-form videos. This flexibility allows creators to leverage their existing skills while exploring new AI-powered tools.
Hovhannes Avoyan, founder and CEO of Picsart, framed the launch as addressing a core inequity. “The creator economy has a structural problem: platforms have never truly committed to compensating everyday creators,” Avoyan stated. He described the new program as an open and straightforward alternative: “Show up, make things, and if your content performs, you get paid.”
This monetization push is part of a strategic evolution for the company. It follows the introduction of an AI agent marketplace in March 2026, where creators can hire AI assistants for tasks like resizing content or editing product photos. Together, these moves signal Picsart’s transition from a standalone editing tool into a comprehensive creator economy platform. The company, founded in 2011, achieved unicorn status in 2021 following a $130 million Series C funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2.
