Bandai Namco has unveiled a comprehensive suite of enhancements for Tales of Berseria Remastered, significantly upgrading the beloved role-playing game for its upcoming release on Nintendo Switch. This revitalized edition builds upon the original with numerous quality-of-life improvements and additional content, promising a smoother and more engaging experience for both new adventurers and returning fans.

A major convenience for players is the inclusion of most downloadable content from the original game right from the start. You can activate this bonus material directly through the in-game menu under Items > Extra. Another significant change involves the Grade Shop, which is now accessible at the beginning of your very first playthrough, complete with a starting balance of 11,200 Grade. To make these purchases even more appealing, a new “Shop Purchase Price Half Price” option has been introduced, slashing the cost of all items by fifty percent.

Navigation and exploration have received a substantial boost. Your character’s default movement speed is now 1.2 times faster, making traversal across the world feel much more responsive. Picking up items found on the field is now instantaneous with a simple button press. The game also provides much better guidance; a star icon and a distance number are displayed on the field for your main story destination, and you can even see the name of the next area as you approach its entrance.

The user interface is far more informative and intuitive. When a new objective is unlocked, it automatically appears on screen. The menu and shop screens now feature “NEW!” icons to highlight recently acquired items, spells, or skills. For those who enjoy side content, characters that trigger sub-events are now marked with a clear exclamation point (!) on the field. The mini-map and location map are more detailed from the outset, showing icons for treasure chests, Katz chests, and medicinal herbs, with visual distinctions between collected and uncollected items.

Several new functions dramatically improve the gameplay flow. An autosave feature now triggers at key moments, such as after moving to a new map. The skip function has been expanded, allowing you to bypass not only event scenes and long chats but also the black screen that appears when resting at an inn. If you are defeated in a standard battle, a new “Retry” option on the Game Over screen lets you jump right back into the fight.

Player customization and accessibility options are more robust than ever. You can now fully customize your map control keys in addition to battle controls. A new “Battle Encounter” setting allows you to turn off random enemy encounters in fields and dungeons, giving you complete control over when you fight. The game also introduces a 101-step brightness adjustment slider for perfect screen visibility.

For story progression, an “Event Auto Skip” function can automatically advance through scenes you have already viewed. During combat, you can enable subtitles for post-battle dialogue and secret technique voiceovers. Map enthusiasts will appreciate the ability to toggle icon displays and even fully unlock the location map to see areas they haven’t visited yet.

Audiophiles have new controls at their disposal. You can now switch the audio language between Japanese and English. There is a new overall volume master control and a dedicated Battle BGM setting that lets you choose which music plays during fights, including tracks from DLC costume packs. The soundscape has also been refined with adjustments to various sound effects.

Finally, the development team has polished the text, correcting typos and omissions present in the original. It is important to note that this remaster uses the expressions from the overseas version of Tales of Berseria, meaning some specifications differ from the original Japanese release.
