Having entered the Sri Lankan market just a year ago, the global IT services firm, which employs more than 31,000 people across 28 countries, began with a modest team in Colombo. Currently, around 30 professionals are focused on understanding regional dynamics before broader expansion. According to company leadership, Sri Lanka’s youthful and digitally fluent population offers substantial potential, though mid-level professionals may require targeted training to thrive in AI-driven environments.
The organization’s approach to talent development operates on two parallel paths. One involves the Mavericks programme, which partners with universities to prepare recent graduates with essential technical and professional skills. The other concentrates on reskilling mid-career individuals, helping those with up to ten years of experience modernize their capabilities. By blending these initiatives with seasoned hires who bring global project experience, Hexaware is building a versatile and sustainable local workforce.
