Google to let users customize Gemini voice speed and energy

Following the introduction of two fresh voice options at Google I/O, the company appears to be preparing a deeper level of personalization for its Gemini assistant. Code discovered within the latest beta version of the Google app suggests users will soon be able to fine-tune the assistant’s voice across four distinct parameters.

This discovery comes from an APK teardown of the Google app version 17.41.12 beta. By decompiling the installation file, analysts can spot strings of text that point to upcoming features. While there is no guarantee these capabilities will ever be released to the public, the code is a strong indicator of what Google is testing internally.

The strings reveal sliders for Energy, Formality, and Warmth, each offering low, medium, and high settings. A fourth slider for Speed will allow users to choose between slow, normal, and fast speech. These customizations are expected to apply across both the Gemini Live conversation mode and the standard text-based chat interface.

This move toward granular voice control mirrors a trend seen on competing platforms. Apple’s iOS 27, for instance, recently added the ability to adjust Siri’s Pace and Expressivity, with those settings carrying over into Maps and Safari. Google has not formally announced this feature, though the company did confirm at I/O that regional dialects are on the roadmap for Gemini.

For now, these voice customization options remain hidden in the code, waiting for an official rollout. But the groundwork is clearly being laid for a more tailored, expressive AI assistant.
