Starting July 30th, Epic Games will allow Fortnite creators to build experiences using characters that speak with AI-powered voices. To kick off this feature, the developer has introduced 36 pre-made characters, each with a consistent voice and persona ready to serve as NPCs in user-generated islands. Among the roster are familiar faces such as Agent Jonesy, Peely (the beloved banana), Fishstick, and Cuddle Team Leader.

This move follows last year’s test run with a Darth Vader NPC voiced by the late James Earl Jones, a collaboration that was officially approved by Jones’ estate. Now, Epic is expanding the concept beyond one-off partnerships, giving its community of creators a toolkit of AI-driven characters to populate their worlds. The new system promises to bring more dynamic and interactive dialogue to custom maps, moving beyond static text-based interactions.
