Following last month’s major Neural Expressive redesign and the introduction of new voices, Google has quietly upgraded Gemini Live with Memory access, allowing the assistant to draw from past conversations and connected app data.

During I/O 2026, the company integrated Gemini Live more seamlessly into the overall chat experience, enabling users to switch fluidly between voice and text interactions. The expanded Connected Apps functionality now lets Live tap into YouTube, Utilities, Workspace, image generation tools, and more during real-time conversations. Notably, support for Google Messages has not yet arrived.

According to a support page updated after I/O, Gemini Live can now “use memories of your past chats and info from some Connected Apps.” Google clarifies that “Gemini Live follows the same permissions that you choose when you chat with Gemini,” ensuring consistency in privacy controls.

In hands-on testing, Gemini Live successfully recalled previous chat threads, delivering what the company calls “helpful, tailored responses.” This feature is currently available in English in the United States.

The Gemini about page further explains that the assistant can “securely remember key details you mention across different sessions, like dietary preferences, important family dates, or your favorite hobbies, so you don’t have to keep repeating yourself during future chats.” This capability brings feature parity with the main text-based Gemini experience.

However, the Personal Intelligence settings page on Android still displays a note that Memory is “coming soon to Live,” suggesting the rollout may not be fully complete across all platforms.
