– These requirements exclude phones like the Pixel 9 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7.
– Gemini Intelligence is an umbrella term for advanced AI features including Gboard’s Rambler voice-to-text and enhanced Chrome auto-fill.
– Most devices with Gemini Nano v3 support were released in 2026, with the Pixel 10 and OPPO Find X9 series as exceptions.

Google is set to roll out Gemini Intelligence to Android devices starting this summer, but the feature’s steep hardware requirements mean only the most powerful phones will qualify. The company revealed the news during the I/O edition of The Android Show earlier this week, framing it as a landmark moment for the platform. However, the fine print tells a different story for most users.

Gemini Intelligence serves as an umbrella term for Google’s most advanced AI capabilities. These include Gboard’s new voice-to-text feature called “Rambler,” an upgraded version of Chrome auto-fill that can manage more complex forms, and the Create My Widget tool. While these features sound promising, accessing them will demand significant hardware.

According to the footnotes on the Gemini Intelligence landing page, devices must have at least 12GB of RAM. That requirement alone excludes many older Pixel models, leaving only the Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 series, and Pixel 10 series in the running. But the RAM requirement is just the start. Phones also need to support AI Core and Gemini Nano v3 or higher.

Android Authority contributor AssembleDebug points to Google’s developer page, which lists devices currently supporting Nano v3. Most of those devices were released in 2026, with the Pixel 10 series and OPPO Find X9 series being notable exceptions. This means that even recent flagships like the Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 9 series will miss out on Gemini Intelligence. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and TriFold also appear to be left out.

In short, while Google is promising a major leap forward with Gemini Intelligence, the reality is that only the most premium, cutting-edge Android phones will be able to take advantage of it this summer.
