– The model picker is a top-left dropdown menu, and the account switcher has moved to the bottom of the navigation drawer.
– In chats, “See thinking steps” is now in the overflow menu as a bottom sheet, and the iOS redesign heavily leverages Liquid Glass.

Google has been quietly refining the Gemini app over recent months, and now the full extent of the overhaul is visible for the first time. The redesign introduces a completely reimagined interface that shifts the user experience in significant ways.

The most immediate change on the homepage is the pill-shaped prompt box, which replaces the previous input style. To the right, you’ll find voice input and Gemini Live controls, while a single ‘plus’ button occupies the rest of the space. Tapping that button reveals a bottom sheet with a carousel for opening “Photos,” launching your “Camera,” and browsing recent images. Further down, you can access Files, Notebooks, and “More uploads.”

Below that, Tools are presented in a clean list with brief descriptions: Images, Videos, Music, Canvas, Deep research, and Guided learning. Google has been testing this unified layout on Android and desktop web, while the Gemini for Mac version already features it.

The homepage greeting now reads “Hi [name], what’s on your mind?” centered beneath the Gemini spark. The standout visual element is a colorful, pulsating background with a gradient effect that adds motion and energy.

In a notable shift, Google has moved the model picker back to the top-left corner as a dropdown menu. The icon set has also been refreshed, favoring thin, rounded outlines for a cleaner look.

Across the interface, you’ll only find the temporary chat button. The account switcher has been relocated to the bottom of the navigation drawer, a major departure from Google’s typical first-party app design.

When you enter a prompt, the gradient background comes alive, creating a gorgeous visual effect that fully leverages the new design.

In chat threads, “See thinking steps” has been moved to the overflow menu, with the thought process now appearing as a bottom sheet.

On iOS, the redesign heavily incorporates Liquid Glass. Earlier this week, initial support appeared, but this version goes much further. It remains unclear how this redesign will translate to Android.

A handful of iOS users have reported seeing this update in the past day, but it is still a limited rollout.
