A major UK digital bank has introduced a sophisticated new tool for personal finance management. Revolut has rolled out its AI financial assistant, named AIR, to its entire user base across the United Kingdom. This launch provides over 13 million customers with a conversational interface designed to simplify banking tasks directly within the app.

The assistant transforms how users interact with their finances. Instead of navigating multiple menus, customers can now ask questions and give commands through a simple chat function. AIR can analyze spending insights, track investments, monitor recurring subscriptions, and help manage payment cards. It also extends into travel support, offering features like trip budgeting and facilitating purchases for the company’s travel eSIMs.

Accessing the tool is straightforward. Users can initiate a chat by swiping down from the center of the Revolut app’s home screen or by navigating through their profile. The company positions this as a fundamental shift away from complex app navigation toward a more intuitive, conversational experience.

Revolut has placed a strong emphasis on data privacy and security with this launch. The company states that AIR operates under a strict zero-data retention policy. It is engineered only to access the specific transaction, investment, and card information that a user can already view within their own account, aiming to deliver intelligent assistance without compromising personal data.

This move places Revolut in a growing field of fintech firms deploying agentic AI assistants. Competitors like Klarna use similar technology for customer service, while Lunar reports a high volume of customer interactions handled by its AI. Notably, rival Starling Bank launched what it termed the UK’s first assistant of this kind in March of last year, offering comparable functionality.

Julia Ponomareva, Revolut’s Director and General Manager of CX and AI Products, framed the launch as a significant evolution. She stated that AIR represents more than just another chatbot, it is an intelligent co-pilot for finances. “We believe the era of navigating through endless tabs and menus is over,” Ponomareva said. “With AIR, we’re delivering a new level of money intelligence that’s both powerful and effortless. It’s not just an assistant, it’s a co-pilot that elevates everyday life, making financial management as easy and natural as sending a text.” The goal is to combine sophisticated financial analysis with a seamless, private user experience.
