Recent announcements surrounding Dead or Alive 6: Last Round have clarified several key details, though not all of them are welcome news for the fighting game community. This upgraded release, set to arrive this summer, will allow players to transfer a significant amount of content from the original game. DLC costumes, game progression, most save data, and unlocked in-game items like costumes, glasses, and hairstyles will carry over to the new version. However, the transition is not entirely seamless.
Certain elements from DOA6 will not be usable in Last Round. Specifically, Premium Tickets and hair color changes cannot be used at all in the upgraded title. Furthermore, the product page confirms that crossplay between different systems is not supported, and the game will be a digital-only release. Perhaps most notably for competitive players, developers have remained silent on the potential addition of rollback netcode, a feature highly requested by the fanbase to improve online play.
Additional information has surfaced that presents further complications for existing players. According to communications attributed to Koei Tecmo support, Last Round will not be offered as an update or as a discounted upgrade for standard Dead or Alive 6 owners. This means the new version must be purchased separately at full price. This policy has generated considerable discussion within the community.
The roster for Last Round also sees a significant reduction. The SNK guest characters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond are not returning in this updated release. This is corroborated by the content guide, which lists the standard edition as containing 29 characters, down from the original’s 31 when including those two fighters. Their associated character DLC keys from DOA6 will not carry over. On a positive note, the developers have confirmed that all other DLC characters released prior will be included in the package.
At launch, a free-to-play Core Fighters version of Last Round will be available, featuring Kasumi, Marie Rose, Honoka, and NiCO as selectable characters. Koei Tecmo has stated that Last Round will receive post-launch support with additional characters and costumes, alongside new upgraded features not present in the original game. Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is scheduled for release on June 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
