Accessing Apple Intelligence-powered Home features in iOS 27 will require a minimum 2TB iCloud+ subscription, Apple confirmed today. The company disclosed this requirement in the release notes for the third macOS Golden Gate beta.

In iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate, the Home app gains the ability to generate written summaries for motion alerts from HomeKit Secure Video cameras. Additionally, it can group footage from multiple cameras to provide an overview of activity, highlight noteworthy recordings, and support natural language search for video clips.

At WWDC, Apple had indicated that some Apple Intelligence features would demand an iCloud+ plan, but had not specified the necessary tier. For the Home Intelligence capabilities, users must subscribe to the 2TB iCloud+ plan or higher. This tier costs $9.99 per month and includes 2TB of iCloud storage.

HomeKit Secure Video cloud storage has historically required a paid iCloud plan. The 50GB plan supports one camera, the 200GB plan handles up to five, and the 2TB plan allows for an unlimited number of cameras. Now, the 2TB plan will also unlock the Apple Intelligence Home feature set. Notably, HomeKit video storage does not count against the iCloud+ plan’s storage limit, so the full 2TB remains available for photos and other data.
