Oura has officially launched the Oura Ring 5, a dramatically redesigned smart ring that is not only smaller and more discreet but also introduces a suite of advanced health-tracking capabilities. The new model features blood pressure trend detection, nighttime breathing analysis, and dedicated tools for monitoring GLP-1 medication use, marking a significant leap in wearable health technology.
The most immediate change is the physical footprint. The Oura Ring 5 is 40% smaller than the Ring 4, now measuring just 6.09mm wide and 2.29mm thick. To achieve this, Oura completely re-engineered the internal architecture, including the mechanical, electrical, optical, battery, and sensing systems. The result is a device that more closely mimics the look and feel of a traditional wedding band. Remarkably, despite the significant size reduction, the company confirms the battery life remains consistent at roughly one week per charge.
Under the hood, the sensing platform has been completely overhauled. A new signal architecture incorporates precision-engineered sensor domes to improve skin contact, paired with more powerful LEDs and twelve distinct signal pathways. Oura states this configuration delivers superior accuracy across a wider range of finger sizes and skin tones.
The headline software innovation is Health Radar, a proactive monitoring feature that expands on the company’s earlier Symptom Radar tool. Health Radar launches with two core capabilities: Blood Pressure Signals and Nighttime Breathing. Blood Pressure Signals continuously analyzes physiological patterns to identify potential cardiovascular strain, surfacing trends in nighttime blood pressure. Nighttime Breathing offers a rolling 30-day view of sleep-related respiratory disturbances, complete with guidance on when to consult a medical professional.
A new Health Records feature allows users in the U. S. to import diagnosed conditions, medications, lab results, and allergies directly into the Oura app. Additionally, Oura has partnered with Counsel Health, an AI-powered virtual care platform, enabling eligible users in 43 states to ask health questions and connect with licensed physicians for an additional fee.
For those managing weight or metabolic health, the new GLP-1 Insights tools provide a centralized dashboard for tracking medication dosing, side effects, weight changes, and biometric data. A Lab Uploads feature also allows users to import blood biomarker results alongside their Oura data.
Other additions include live workout tracking with real-time pace, distance, and heart rate via a connected device; a Brain Health Study through Oura Labs that pairs cognitive assessments with biometric data; and a Data Deletion tool that lets users erase information from specific time periods without affecting their entire history.
An optional Charging Case accessory, priced at $99, provides a full month of battery life and supports wireless charging. A new Locate feature helps users find misplaced rings and charging cases.
The Oura Ring 5 starts at $399 for Silver and Black finishes, while Gold, Stealth, Brushed Silver, and Deep Rose options cost $499. The ceramic Oura Ring 4 remains available at $349. An Oura Membership, priced at $5.99 per month or $69.99 annually, is required for full functionality. Global pre-orders begin today, with shipping scheduled to start on June 4.
