Gamers looking to use their Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller on PC now have a seamless way to do so, thanks to a new update from Valve. The latest Steam Client Beta introduces official support for the Switch 2 Pro Controller when connected via USB on Windows, expanding the options available for playing Steam games with preferred hardware.

Alongside the Switch 2 Pro Controller, Valve has also rolled out compatibility for the GameCube controller. This support is specifically for the controller operating in Wii-U mode with rumble functionality enabled, also on Windows. It’s important to note that, similar to the Switch 2 Pro Controller, the GameCube controller requires a wired USB connection and does not currently support Bluetooth connectivity.

Steam has long provided broad controller support, accommodating popular gamepads from Xbox and PlayStation, as well as earlier Nintendo controllers. This includes the original Switch Pro Controller, Joy-Cons, and various classic controllers available through the Switch Online service, such as those for N64, NES, SNES, and SEGA Mega Drive systems.

In separate announcements, Valve revealed several upcoming hardware releases. The company introduced the Steam Machine, a new console running the same operating system as the Steam Deck but reportedly delivering six times the performance of the handheld. Additionally, Valve unveiled the Steam Frame, a new VR headset, and an all-new Steam Controller designed to work with any device that runs Steam. All three products, the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller, are anticipated to launch in 2026.
