Following a period of community anticipation, Bungie has officially unveiled the complete Destiny 2: Renegades roadmap, detailing a substantial content rollout beginning on December 2, 2025. This release marks the end of a prolonged wait after the developer acknowledged announcing the schedule prematurely, leading to player frustration. The newly published calendar outlines a wealth of new features, including a fresh campaign, activities, significant quality-of-life updates, and a clear plan for post-launch events.

The comprehensive roadmap provides a detailed look at what Guardians can expect throughout December and into the following months. The initial launch on December 2, designated as Update 9.5.0, serves as the foundation for the new expansion. A follow-up patch, Update 9.5.0.1, is scheduled for just one week later on December 9, introducing additional weekly rituals and events.

Update 9.5.0 launches on December 2, 2025, bringing a massive amount of new content. The centerpiece is the new campaign set in the Lawless Frontier, accompanied by a new activity of the same name. Players will also gain access to a brand-new Exotic mission and the highly anticipated Equilibrium dungeon. A completely new weapon type, Blasters, will be introduced, along with a new Exotic sword called the Praxic Blade.

This update also introduces sweeping changes to player progression. Seasonal Power will now carry over between seasons, eliminating the traditional reset with each major release. All Exotic weapons and armor are being added to a featured pool, making them easier for players to target and acquire. A major boon for returning players is an automatic Power catch-up mechanic, instantly boosting characters to 300 Power. Featured gear from the previous season, The Edge of Fate, will continue to be available.

Quality-of-life receives a massive boost with substantial vault upgrades. The vault capacity is being increased by 300 slots, bringing the total storage to 1,000 items. New sorting and filtering tools will allow players to organize their loot by power level, slot, date acquired, and rarity.

One of the most surprising and welcome additions is the introduction of Universal Exotic Armor Ornaments. This system allows players to apply any Exotic armor ornament to any other Exotic piece of the same class and slot, but this cosmetic freedom is restricted to PvE activities. For clarity in competitive play, PvP will always display the original model of the equipped Exotic.

The Portal activity playlist is being significantly expanded with several new and returning missions. New additions include Typhon Imperator for Solo Ops and new six-player Arena Ops. Familiar favorites like Sunless Cell for Fireteam Ops, along with Vox Obscura and Derealize for Pinnacle Ops, are also making a comeback. Rewards and cosmetics for the Portal playlist are receiving a full refresh.

Arriving on December 9, 2025, Update 9.5.0.1 solidifies the new weekly ritual structure. This includes the new Vanguard Alert playlist and its Grandmaster version, weekly Crucible objectives, and rotating Arena Ops. These activities are tied into the new Orders system, which replaces much of the old bounty framework with Common, Legendary, and Exotic Orders.

The roadmap also provides a much clearer picture of the live event schedule extending into 2026. This includes the return of fan-favorite events like Sword Week and the introduction of a Tex Mechanica Foundry Sponsorship. The calendar is filled with The Dawning in December, an Arms Week focused on Bows in January, Guardian Games in March, and a Mid-Season Call to Arms in April. Iron Banner and a Heavy Metal event are also confirmed, with a rotation of surges, reward boosts, and weapon modifiers to keep the experience fresh.

To cap off the launch window, Bungie confirmed that the new Equilibrium dungeon will become available on December 13, 2025, complete with its own unique loot pool and challenges.
