The Nintendo Switch Online service is set to receive a major update next week, bringing the beloved GameCube launch title Luigi’s Mansion to the platform just in time for Halloween. Arriving on October 30, 2025, this classic adventure originally debuted in 2001 and places Luigi front and center as he explores a haunted property he has unexpectedly won.
Rather than a dream home, Luigi discovers the mansion is overflowing with troublesome spirits, and his brother Mario has mysteriously vanished. With support from the eccentric inventor Professor E. Gadd, our green-capped hero must confront his fears and capture every ghost using the Poltergust 3000 vacuum. Players can track progress and locate hidden items using the in-game Game Boy Horror device, all while unraveling the mansion’s many spectral secrets.
A newly released trailer emphasizes that with this addition, the entire Luigi’s Mansion trilogy can now be experienced on Nintendo Switch 2. Alongside this original title, players have access to Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Luigi’s Mansion 3, making it the perfect season to dive into all three ghost-hunting escapades.
This release continues the steady expansion of the Nintendo Classics GameCube catalog, following recent additions like Chibi-Robo and Mario Smash Football. Luigi’s Mansion was among ten titles confirmed when the GameCube library was first announced. Other planned games for the service include fan favorites such as Super Mario Sunshine, Pokémon Colosseum, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
Access to these GameCube classics requires an active Nintendo Switch Online membership at the Expansion Pack tier, along with a Nintendo Switch 2 console. The same update will go live in Japan simultaneously. In addition to Luigi’s Mansion, Nintendo recently enriched the SNES library with three more retro titles earlier this month.
