For pet owners seeking reliable ways to monitor their furry companions, Life360 has introduced a dedicated GPS tracker designed specifically for dogs and cats. This new device clips securely onto a collar or harness, providing continuous real-time location updates to give families greater confidence about their pet’s whereabouts.
The move into pet tracking represents a logical next step for Life360, especially after the company acquired Tile in 2021. That acquisition allowed Life360 to incorporate Tile’s tracking technology into its platform, including the option to assign a Tile tracker to a pet. Now, the company is launching a specialized product built just for animals.
Priced at $49.99, the Life360 Pet GPS is the most expensive tracker in the brand’s lineup, but it includes a suite of capabilities aimed at keeping pets secure. Notable functions include geofencing, which sends an alert if a pet crosses a virtual boundary, along with escape alerts and access to a community-based Pet Finder Network. Owners can designate safe zones, such as their backyard or neighborhood, and receive immediate notifications if their pet leaves those areas.
Should a pet go missing, users can activate a lost pet alert that shares important details with nearby Life360 members. Information distributed includes the pet’s name, photograph, breed, and emergency contact information. Life360 reports that its network includes more than 88 million members, offering a substantial pool of people who can assist in locating a lost animal.
To deliver precise location data, the tracker uses a combination of cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth signals. When a pet is away from home, the location refreshes every two to four seconds for up-to-the-minute accuracy.
Additional practical features include a built-in light that can be turned on via the app to help spot a pet in low-light conditions. A chime function is also included, allowing owners to audibly call their pet, helpful when a dog is lingering in the yard or a cat is hiding under furniture.
Built to withstand active pets and outdoor elements, the device carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as durability against pet bites. It comes with a charger and offers a battery life of up to 14 days under normal use. A special “Bluetooth Reserve Mode” can extend location tracking for as long as six months, preserving battery when needed.
The Life360 Pet GPS is available in three color options: pink, navy, and black. It can be purchased in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand through Life360’s official website. To unlock the tracker’s full functionality, users must subscribe to either the Gold membership at $14.99 per month or the Platinum tier at $24.99 per month.
