A major new partnership is set to significantly expand the electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the United Arab Emirates, marking a pivotal step in the nation’s clean transportation strategy. The collaboration between 7X, a prominent holding group in trade, transport, and logistics, and UAEV, the first government-owned EV charging network, was officially launched at the GITEX GLOBAL 2025 exhibition. This alliance is structured around a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines a comprehensive plan to develop, manage, and promote a widespread network of EV charging stations.
The core objective of this initiative is to speed up the transition to eco-friendly vehicle fleets and improve sustainable mobility options available throughout the country. It directly supports the UAE’s broader strategic aims, which include encouraging the use of clean transport, meeting national sustainability targets, and incorporating digital innovations such as the ‘Wayn’ platform for secure and efficient official communications.
A key element of the partnership involves 7X utilizing its extensive logistics capabilities to support the rapid deployment of EV infrastructure. The company will leverage its National Network for Logistics (NXN) and its logistics arm, EMX, drawing on their widespread service branches and distribution centers located in every emirate. This logistical support is expected to facilitate the establishment of integrated charging stations, which will help optimize last-mile delivery services, lower overall emissions, and strengthen the EV charging network in high-priority locations. The partnership will also encourage the adoption of sustainable methods within the logistics operations of 7X and its associated partners.
Future possibilities being explored include installing parcel lockers at charging points and creating smart mobility solutions, all designed to increase user convenience and add further value to the national EV network.
Tariq Al Wahedi, the Group CEO of 7X, commented on the strategic importance of the alliance. He stated that the partnership demonstrates a firm commitment to progressing the UAE’s shift toward a sustainable, low-emission economy while simultaneously strengthening its international standing in trade and logistics. He explained that the move to environmentally friendly fleets and the embrace of electric mobility solutions are central to 7X’s long-term plan for boosting operational efficiency, cutting emissions, and helping build a competitive green economy on a global scale. Through this joint effort, the aim is to create a distinguished Emirati model that successfully merges innovation with sustainability, supporting the objectives of the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision and the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.
From the perspective of UAEV, CEO Ali Al Darwish described the collaboration as a significant milestone in the company’s mission to accelerate the nation’s transition to sustainable mobility. He emphasized that by embedding advanced charging infrastructure within 7X’s nationwide network, they are not only making charging more accessible for private EV owners but are also aiding the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets across the Emirates. He affirmed that this joint effort amplifies their collective contribution to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 ambition and reflects a shared dedication to constructing a cleaner, more intelligent, and better-connected future.
This strategic partnership between 7X and UAEV highlights a mutual dedication to advancing the UAE’s clean energy agenda and cementing its role as a worldwide leader in sustainable development. The collaboration is poised to open up new avenues for improving efficiency, significantly reducing carbon emissions, and delivering enhanced value to the national economy. Ultimately, it will provide communities and businesses with access to a modern, state-of-the-art EV charging network that fully aligns with the UAE’s vision for a more sustainable and interconnected future.
