Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack & Invincible Boss Release Dates Revealed

Gearbox Software has officially revealed the upcoming content roadmap for Borderlands 4, detailing a series of events and additions scheduled through the end of the year. While the game maintains its stance as a non-live service title, players can look forward to three distinct launches and activities leading into a major story expansion early next year, which will introduce a brand new Vault Hunter character.

Starting October 23 and running through November 6, the Horrors of Kairos Halloween Event brings spooky seasonal fun. All participants receive a Halloween Pumpkin Head cosmetic for every class, one weapon skin, and the chance to earn special legendary gear. Defeating the World Boss yields the “Skully” legendary grenade, which tracks and fires at the nearest enemy, and the “Murmur” legendary assault rifle, an armament that automatically executes critically wounded foes below 35% health. The event also features a temporary seasonal weather effect. This limited-time event is completely free, giving the community two weeks to secure these exclusive items before they vanish.

Following the Halloween festivities, the How Rush Saved Mercenary Day Christmas Bounty Pack arrives on November 20. This premium content drop is packed with cosmetics and new gameplay. It includes four legendary firearms, five weapon skins, four head skins for all classes, two full Vault Hunter outfits, five ECHO drone skins, two ECHO attachments, five vehicle skins, and an entirely new vehicle. Additionally, players gain access to fresh story missions centered on the character Rush. This bounty pack will be released alongside the game’s inaugural Vault Card. Similar to the system in Borderlands 3, the Vault Card acts as a permanent battle pass, offering ongoing experience point boosts and various rewards that do not expire.

December introduces a significant free update headlined by the arrival of the first Invincible Boss in Borderlands 4. These encounters represent the pinnacle of difficulty within the franchise, demanding peak performance from even the most seasoned vault hunters. The update also raises the challenge ceiling by launching Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode 6, further intensifying the game’s combat. New legendary weapons will be part of this package, with the Invincible Boss being a likely source for these powerful drops.

Looking further ahead, a major Story Pack is slated for a 2026 release. While details remain scarce, Gearbox has already previewed C4SH, a card-slinging robotic Vault Hunter who will join the roster. This marks a shift from the post-launch strategy of Borderlands 3, which focused on expanding skill trees for the original four characters instead of adding new ones.

Some community members have expressed that these offerings feel lighter compared to the events in Borderlands 3. This has led to speculation regarding whether the development team currently possesses the same level of post-launch resources and staffing as it did during the previous title’s lifecycle. The Halloween event kicks off next Thursday, coinciding with a substantial game patch.
