A major crossover event is bringing the worlds of PlayStation and Magic: The Gathering together, with a new Secret Lair Superdrop launching next month. This special collection transforms beloved characters and locations from iconic video game franchises into fully playable MTG cards. The collaboration was unveiled during MagicCon Atlanta and is scheduled for release on October 27.

Sony and Wizards of the Coast provided a first look at the cards, which draw from a roster of celebrated PlayStation titles. Fans can expect to see representations from God of War, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ghost of Tsushima. Each card pack is said to feature reimagined versions of iconic characters, key locations, and significant items, all designed with unique mechanics and stunning artwork.

The development process involved close cooperation between Wizards of the Coast and the original game studios, including Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, Guerrilla, and Sucker Punch Productions. The goal was to authentically capture the spirit and essence of each game universe for the trading card game format.

For enthusiasts of The Last of Us, the set includes multiple Legendary Creature cards. From the original game, players can find Joel, Resolute Survivor and Ellie, Brick Master. The sequel, The Last of Us Part II, is represented by Abby, Merciless Soldier and Ellie, Vengeful Hunter. The adventurous Uncharted series joins the fray with its own card for Nathan Drake, Treasure Hunter.

The God of War representation is particularly comprehensive, spanning both the Greek and Norse eras of Kratos’s journey. This allows players to see the god-killer depicted with his iconic Blades of Chaos as well as the Leviathan Axe. His son, Atreus, is also featured, armed with his trusty bow.

Completing the initial reveal are two more Legendary Creature cards: Aloy, Savior of Meridian from Horizon Forbidden West and Jin Sakai, Ghost of Tsushima. This collaboration is not Wizards of the Coast’s first venture into other gaming universes. Past Secret Lair sets have featured crossovers with properties like Fallout, Assassin’s Creed, Tomb Raider, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

The announcement was part of a significant presentation at MagicCon Atlanta, where Wizards of the Coast outlined its future plans. The company showcased six of the seven expansions planned for 2025 and 2026. These future sets promise returns to beloved worlds, including The Hobbit and Marvel Super Heroes, alongside a new Universes Beyond set that will feature Star Trek. This follows the successful launches of the Final Fantasy set earlier this year and the Spider-Man set that debuted recently. An Avatar: The Last Airbender set is also confirmed to be on the horizon.
